The Christian Surfers Africa Leadership Training (CSALT) Gap Year is a 10 month course dedicated to equipping surfers and skaters to purposefully impact their local communities around the world. Our Gap Year is based in Jeffreys Bay, home to the iconic Supertubes (one of the top right-hand breaks on the planet) and a vibrant surf and skate community. Our program creates the opportunity for you to become a part of a flourishing faith community and to shape and be shaped by it. As a family we often converse about, and study the story of the Bible. We discover an Epic Tale that we are born into. A Tale that we can and should actually be a part of. In a Tale of adventure, pain, romance, passion and surfing, we’ll get to know the hero of the story – Jesus of Nazareth. We get to know our Creator in ways that you would never expect. We explore our purpose in the story, what this Creator is calling us to be part of and even how to answer the tough questions in life.
Our program can be divided into a Training Phase that ignites your divine purpose, followed by a heart- and soul-filled Practical Phase. Cementing what you have learned through traveling our South African coastline and plugging into the extended CS family and associated organizations. The program is an initiative of Christian Surfers South Africa and falls under the leadership of CSALT volunteers and staff members, eager to usher you deeper in to our Shaper’s presence.
